JUST SAY YES!
Have you ever struggled at different times in your life about your life? Wondering what should I do, what am I going to do, or even what have I done with my life? Questions I believe we ask ourselves many times throughout this life. Just last week I was having some quiet time with God and asking him what do you want me to do with my time, energy, my life? I heard that still small voice say Kim “JUST SAY YES”! This revelation is so simple but I believe so vital in moving forward in our purpose and our call. What are you saying NO to in your life, a career change, getting healthy, spending more time with family, stepping out on faith in a ministry, falling in love again? Whatever it is “JUST SAY YES”! Just say there’s nothing holding you back. It’s so simple the path is clear “JUST FINALLY SAY YES”! Life coaching assignment is to ask yourself what do I need to say YES to in my life? Write it down and speak it out! It will start to become real that way.
DON’T FOCUS ON WHAT YOU’RE NOT, FOCUS ON WHAT YOU ARE!
Last week I had a wise woman say to me. “You just have to quit focusing on what you’re not and focus on what you are” (thanks Jerri)! When she said that to me it just clicked. That’s what we do as women, as moms, as wives we focus on what we are not in our looks, weight and even our MONEY! So here’s your LIFE COACHING assignment…. I want you to write down 3 things that YOU ARE! Be specific. Share them here on this BLOG!
With the release of feature film ‘The Help’ I knew I had to do this. Write a blog series ” entitled 5 Reasons I Want To Be A Black Woman”. There is something about the black woman that speaks to me. The confidence, faith and the endurance they posses are qualities I resonate with and I admire their ability to “tell it like it is” and not be bothered by what people think. I have witnessed many black women that are CONFIDENT, ASSURED and have a “ain’t got nothing to lose” outlook that intrigues me. I believe we are all the same in different ways. White, black, Asian, old, young, fat, thin - we are all the same. We want to be heard, validated, and loved. I’ve spoken to, life coached and ministered to thousands of women over the years but there is something I’ve noticed about the black women that is unique. There is something they have that I am drawn to like “white on rice”. Black women posses certain qualities that ALL woman could glean from. This blog & Podcast series reveals those unique qualities and inspires ALL women to bring out their “black woman”within! Whether it’s in their relationships, how they parent or even their self image. The strength, the bootylicious (I love that word) curves & the unashamed boldness they have are all qualities of strong value. Women everywhere could benefit from adopting a little of their flavor. In speaking with over 100 black women from all different walks of life, I have seen a common thread that link them not only in heritage but in voice! That strong voice and self-assuredness is what makes me say “I want to be a black woman”!
SO HERE ARE THE 5 REASONS:
Over the next five weeks you will hear interviews, podcasts, songs, videos and historical information to support my ideas. You will hear from African American women from all generations, different sizes, shapes, shades and even religious backgrounds. This is a celebration of "THE BLACK WOMAN".
